Monarch Life Cycle Art

In investigative inquiry we made the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly.

Arts and Crafts

Mrs Harrison and the Arts and Crafts group have created some amazing bookmarks during our Investigative Inquiry time today.

Thank you to all those parents and caregivers who donated crafting materials - they have been put to great use.

HURRICANES!

What an exciting day for our pod... Monty was the lucky winner of the More FM competition to get Hurricanes at your school!  Homeroom 22 was also really lucky to get photos and a chance to do some relays with the Hurricanes.

Thanks Monty (and his mum!)

Inquiry session 10th March

We had a fantastic Inquiry session... everyone was working together collaboratively and showing a lot of enthusiasm for their inquiry choice.  There was arts and crafts, tinkering, stitchery, drawing and construction.  Great job team!

Mystery box

We received a mystery box yesterday... but the teachers wouldn't say what was in it. We had to write about what we thought it was, and found out that it is actually a DIY cheese kit!

Look out over the next few weeks, we will be making cheese in the pod as part of our inquiry.

More great workers!

We have been writing about our mystery box today.... we received a package yesterday so we had to guess what was in the box.
Stay tuned for our stories, but well done to Eden, Kruz and Thomas with your efforts in writing, today's recipients of our pod lanyards!

Great Aroha workers!

Here are today's recipients of our pod lanyards... for their excellent job on their poems today.
Well done Azalea, Summer and Corey!!

Klikko

The introduction of two construction sets of 'Klikko' to our Investigative Inquiry sessions has seen some exciting new directions in design and construction .

Here are some of the amazing creations our kids made today:

Wow work

Today we introduced a new way of recognising what we call 'Wow work'.  Our students are always encouraged to show the Whakarongo Kid Values of perseverance and excellence when they complete tasks.  They can now work towards a 'Goal Met' card that they wear for part of the day and have the opportunity to share with others what they have been working on and how they met their goal.

Our 'Goal Met' for Wow work recipients today were:

Samuel, Bailey and Hunter
Well done boys!

Check out Hunter's 'literacy can do' activity.
He completed a flow map using the story of the three little pigs
- complete with the 'on my chinny chin chin' ending.

Monarchs hatching!

As you will know we are butterfly and cicada crazy at the moment! Today we got to see a monarch chrysalis hatching under a leaf... This caused a lot of excitement in the pod!
